Alps Brand Campaign
High-altitude commercial campaign capturing the harsh, elemental beauty of the Dolomites for an alpine technical apparel launch.

The Vision & Context
When Alps Apparel commissioned this campaign, the goal was unambiguous: reject artificial studio environments in favor of the uncompromising alpine terrain where their garments are built to perform. The campaign had to bridge the gap between high-performance outdoor functionality and contemporary luxury aesthetics.
We chose the dramatic ridgelines of Passo Giau in the Italian Dolomites as our primary staging ground—an environment defined by sheer limestone peaks, unpredictable fog fronts, and biting winds that test both athlete and camera hardware.
Production & Lighting Strategy
Operating at an elevation of over 2,200 meters required extreme mobility. Heavy lighting rigs and generators were discarded in favor of lightweight carbon fiber stabilizers, portable high-output directional reflectors, and waiting for optimal natural weather windows.
Key production principles included:
- Chasing the Boundary of Storms: Rather than shooting on clear sunny afternoons, we scheduled all primary portraits during the transition between passing storm fronts and twilight. This delivered dramatic natural diffusion and rich, saturated rock textures.
- Micro-Texture Emphasis: To showcase the water-repellent weaves and breathable membranes of the garments, we utilized sharp prime optics stopped down to f/5.6 and f/8, capturing needle-sharp fiber details without artificial sharpening artifacts.
- Natural Negative Fill: Dark limestone cliff faces served as organic negative fill, carving out deep, cinematic shadow rolloff on the subjects’ windward profiles.
Color Science & ACES Finishing
Post-production was performed within an ACEScc color-managed pipeline in DaVinci Resolve. The creative direction demanded a restrained, cool-slate palette that accentuated alpine atmosphere while maintaining skin tone fidelity.
Highlights were kept organic with a soft shoulder rolloff that preserved cloud gradations, while the shadows were subtly cooled with slate-blue cyan undertones. The resulting campaign achieved a cohesive, timeless visual language reproduced consistently across large-format print billboards, digital lookbooks, and flagship storefronts across Europe.
Launching an alpine technical winter line with imagery that felt authentic, rugged, and emotionally enduring rather than staged studio fashion.
A 4-day continuous mountain expedition at Passo Giau in sub-zero dawn temperatures, pairing raw directional storm light with calibrated cool-toned color science.
Over 1.2M organic impressions across launch channels, a 42% lift in seasonal catalog sales, and key feature in European outdoor publications.
